What is microneedling with BioRePeel?
Microneedling — also called skin needling — uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the outer layer of the skin. The skin treats those tiny punctures as work to do, and responds the way it knows how: repair, including the production of collagen and elastin. That response is the treatment.

This is the most involved skin treatment on the menu, which is exactly why it doesn’t run on demand. It runs to a plan, on skin that’s been assessed, at a time the skin can use it.
What happens in the session?
Four stages. Session length varies with the area treated — face only, or face, neck and décolletage.
A check of your skin against your plan — this treatment only goes ahead on skin that’s ready for it. Then cleansing and preparation of the area.
A microneedling device creates tiny, controlled punctures across the treatment area. The depth and pattern are matched to your skin and the area being worked.

The skin is calmed and you leave with written aftercare. Expect the area to look and feel worked — that’s the response the treatment is asking for.

What about aftercare?
This treatment asks more of the skin than a facial does, and the days after reflect that. Expect the area to be red and feel tender for a few days. That’s the repair response running — not a problem to be managed away.

Because this treatment works by asking the skin to repair, timing matters more here than anywhere else on the menu. Skin that’s already under load isn’t ready to take on more work. The consultation establishes what your skin is doing first — ninety minutes with a registered nurse, $150, and a written plan you keep.

What is skin needling?
A controlled treatment that creates very small channels in the skin with fine needles, which prompts the skin's own repair response. It is the same thing as microneedling — the two names are used interchangeably. At Glow it is generally paired with BioRePeel rather than performed alone.
Does microneedling hurt?
It is uncomfortable rather than painful for most people, and a topical numbing cream is applied beforehand. The forehead and the area along the jaw tend to be felt more than the cheeks. Afterwards it feels like moderate sunburn for a day or so — warm and tight rather than sore.
Does microneedling work for scars?
It suits some scars and not others, and the type matters more than the number of sessions. Indented scars that have fully matured are what it works best on. Raised scars generally do not respond, and skin prone to keloid scarring is not treated this way at all. We would rather tell you at the assessment that a scar is unlikely to respond than sell you a course of treatment for it.
How many microneedling sessions are needed for acne scars?
Usually a course spaced several weeks apart rather than a single appointment, and the honest answer is that it depends on the scarring more than on a fixed number. Skin needs the full interval between sessions to do the repair work — stacking them closer together does not speed it up. You will be given an expected number at the assessment, along with what would make us stop.
Can microneedling be used on surgical scars?
Sometimes, once a scar has fully matured, and not before. We want clearance from the surgeon or GP first — not as a formality, but because they know what is underneath it and we do not. Nothing here removes a scar; the honest word is improved, and by how much varies considerably.
Can you have microneedling with active acne?
Not through areas that are actively inflamed. Needling across angry, painful lesions tends to spread bacteria and can leave marks that outlast the breakout. It is well suited to the scarring left behind once things have settled, which is a different appointment at a different time.
Can you have microneedling while pregnant?
No. It is set aside for the duration of a pregnancy — it works by creating controlled injury and is done with topical numbing, and neither has been studied in pregnancy. It will still be available afterwards.
Does microneedling help fine lines?
It can improve skin texture and firmness over a course, which often makes fine lines less noticeable. It does not erase them, and anything claiming to is describing a different treatment or an outcome that does not happen. Expect gradual change over months rather than a visible difference the following week.
